1917 AD
On October 13, 1917, approximately 70,000 people gathered at the Cova da Iria near Fatima, Portugal, to witness the promised 'miracle that everyone would recognize.' Despite heavy rain and dark clouds, the sun appeared as a silver disk, began to spin and dance in the sky, and appeared to plunge toward the earth before returning to its normal position. The crowd's clothes, which had been soaked by rain, were found completely dry afterward.
The miracle was witnessed by thousands, including skeptical journalists who reported it. It validated the messages given to the three shepherd children β LucΓa, Francisco, and Jacinta β about prayer, penance, and the conversion of Russia. The event remains one of the most well-documented Marian apparitions in history. Key sources: Eyewitness accounts, newspaper reports, LucΓa's memoirs
