β Biography
Joseph, son of Jacob and Rachel, was sold into slavery by his jealous brothers. In Egypt, he interpreted dreams and rose to become vizier under Pharaoh. He stored grain during seven years of plenty, saving Egypt and surrounding lands from famine. When his brothers came to Egypt seeking food, Joseph revealed himself and forgave them, saying God sent him ahead to preserve life. His life shows God's providence turning evil into good.
