St. Jeremiah, Weeping Prophet

✝ Biography
Jeremiah was called by God as a young man to prophesy to Judah. He warned of coming destruction due to idolatry and sin, suffering imprisonment and persecution for his messages. He wrote the Book of Lamentations over Jerusalem's fall. Jeremiah prophesied the New Covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-34), fulfilled in Christ. He is called the 'weeping prophet' for his sorrow over Israel's sin. His faithfulness despite suffering is an example of prophetic courage.
