MARGARET of SCOTLAND (St) W.
R.M. June 10 and Nov. 16 c.1050-1093 (Nov. 16). Granddaughter of King Edmund Ironside of England, in 1070 she married King Malcolm III Can- more of Scotland. She used her influence as queen for the good of religion and for the promotion of justice, ever having a special thought for the poor. She had six sons and two daughters, one of whom was “Good Queen Maud,” wife of Henry lI. Among the foundations she made was the Benedictine abbey of Dunfermline, where she was buried.
