Born c.1250 in Germany. Cistercian monk at Heisterbach Abbey near Cologne. Wrote the 'Dialogus Miraculorum' (Dialogue on Miracles)βa collection of over 700 miracle stories, moral tales, and sermons, written as a dialogue between a master and student. One of the most important sources for understanding medieval Catholic piety, monastic life, and popular religious culture. The work covers miracles of saints, Eucharistic miracles, visions, and moral lessons. Died c.1320. Venerated as a blessed.
