β Biography
Born Anne Marie Louise Tricerri on Apr 21, 1880 in Palermo, Sicily, to an aristocratic French family. Entered the Carmelite convent at Rouen, France in 1898 at age 18. Took the name Elizabeth of the Trinity. Known for her mystical union with God through contemplative prayer. Wrote: 'I am a mystic, that is, I am a soul that wants to be wholly of God in all things and at every moment.' Suffered from poor health and spent much time in bed, yet maintained intense prayer. Died Dec 11, 1906 at age 26 from tuberculosis. Her spiritual writings were published posthumously. Beatified in 1982, canonized in 1982 by John Paul II.
