✝ Biography
Joshua, son of Nun, was Moses' faithful assistant. God chose him to lead Israel into the Promised Land after Moses' death. Under his leadership, the walls of Jericho fell, Ai was conquered, and the sun stood still at Gibeon. He divided the land among the twelve tribes. His name 'Yehoshua' means 'Yahweh saves' — the same name as Jesus (Joshua in Greek). Hebrews 4:8 notes that if Joshua had given rest, God would not speak of another day (Christ).
